The Way Forward

The local food movement promised to stimulate urban and rural economies, restore access to healthy foods in all communities regardless of socio- economic status, inject sustainable agriculture into mainstream markets, and minimize the carbon emissions of food distribution.

While there have been many successes, farmers today face greater challenges than ever, such as the volatility of markets and weather patterns, increasing land prices, interest rates, and rising costs of production.

At the same time, demand for community food programs is at an all time high, as Ohioans face hunger and economic uncertainty. With growing instability, farms have planted less surplus, food costs have been rising, and fresh fruits and vegetables have been disappearing from pantry shelves.

Community Feed Ohio and its partners strive for a resilient-vibrant foodshed in our region, providing effective solutions for local food access and production.
